Importance of Releasing your Dog

by UniversityDog on March 3, 2009

Release your dog after she has obeyed the command and displayed the desired behavior. Releasing is an equally important component of the training process. You can do this by setting a release command like ‘okay’ or ‘free’ and using it after every performance.

For example, you have asked your dog to stay and she has stayed in the desired posture for the required time. Now, release the dog by saying appropriate release word before she tries to get up instinctively

Teaching the release command early on will help her understand when the task is over and it is okay to relax. Never forget to release the dog after each command otherwise it is going to lose its meaning. These are some general guidelines, do’s, and don’ts for puppy training sessions.

Follow these guidelines to achieve your training goals and make your dog obedient and an admirable companion for you and your family.
